I’m Lauren, a colour-obsessed, part-time beauty therapist, park Run enthusiast, mum of two beautiful boys, and founder of Sunny’s Stitches – an all-female, family-run personalised knitwear business.
After becoming pregnant with our first-born, the very fabulous Sunny, my gorgeous Gran gave me a bundle of very loved cardigans as some of his first wrap-ups. I wanted to make them feel even more special and because I loved the name Sunny (cue all things sun flavoured in his room!), I sewed his name in avid preparation to create something uniquely his.
In the two years since we first made our name, we’ve sold over 750 knits and sent cardigans all over the world from America to Australia. We’re excited to be launching a range of personalised hats and blankets this year as a handy hospital pack or just an adorable winter warmer gift.
I’m a trained beauty therapist and run my own salon. Massages and manicures had to take the obligatory side-step in the latter weeks of my pregnancy so sewing and knitting became a welcome calmer as I eagerly awaited my little boy to arrive.
Family and friends took note of his lovely, personalised little knits and a few asked if I could make some for them. My mum brought in a bundle more ‘customers’ from school (we both work at our local primary) and my sister [link to her Insta] kept snapping pics and gathering a bit of a following for our little creations (and of course, Sunny was a very adorable baby!)
Just like that… Sunny’s Stiches was born!
I love being creative, I love colour and jazzy clothing combinations. I love helping people feel good about themselves. It’s why I trained as a beauty therapist, and it’s why I love creating for Sunny’s Stiches.
Our Team
My mum and sister are my best friends and my business partners – I sew the names, mum’s head of procurement, my sister runs our social pages and our extended family superheroes knit our cardis (we also source a few pre-loved numbers). We’re a fierce all-female team and I couldn’t be prouder!
Nothing looks as cute as seeing a little one in a cute outfit. In a world where we can buy anything at a click of a finger or in our local supermarket, I think it’s so special to have something unique and lovingly made by a family run small business that truly cares about their end wearer.
As you’ll see from our Insta, we love seeing our knits being worn and so often as the baby’s first item.
